Drakenstein Edu Cricket Club
HISTORY
In 2009 Boland College Paarl Campus formed a cricket team made up of students. They played friendly games against schools and clubs in the Paarl Area. The students enjoyed the games and decided to form a formal cricket club so that they could play in a recognized cricket league. The management of the team is made up of parents of players as well as a representative of Boland College Paarl campus. The management decided to change the name of the college team in order to make it more inclusive. Thus Drakenstein Edu Cricket Club was born.
Drakenstein - This is the municipal area from where most of the players come.
Edu - This is short for education. This has to do with the origin of the club in a college (Boland College Paarl).
Today the club has a membership of 56 players made up of college students, school learners and working players. The first team competes in Central Boland’s second league and the second team in the third league.
