Background Information: Marais played 1st class cricket for Boland from 1988 to 1997. During this time he played 53 1st class matches and 54 limited over matches. His highest score was 103 not out against Warwickshire and his best bowling was 6 for 22 against New Zealand. Marais Erasmus’ debuted as an umpire at Club level in October 2000, at 1st class level in February 2003, and at International level in February 2006. As an umpire, Marais has umpired 10 ODI’s and 6 20/20 internationals. He has been a TV umpire at numerous Test matches, ODI’s and 20/20 Internationals. He umpired in the T20 World Cup in England in 2009 and was chosen as SA umpire of the year in 2006, 2007, and 2009
