Background Information: Deon played both Junior and Senior Cricket for Stellenbosch and Districts, as well as at a College level. He was selected for the SATISA (South African Tertiary Institution) as opening batsman in 1987. After his playing days were over, he started umpiring in 1996 in the Boland region
