CSA REGIONAL CUBS WEEK

WARRIORS SUPERIOR AGAINST COBRAS

Derick Williams

The fourth day of the regional cubs week saw the Cobras Cubs taking on the Warriors Cubs at the Wellington Cricket Ground.

The Warrior Cubs won the toss and elected to bowl sending the Cobras Cubs in to have a bat first up. The Cobras progressed at a steady pace to 60 for the first wicket partnership. However three sudden wickets were to fall leaving a consolidation process to follow. Henry Williams was quick to point out that although the wicket was playing true it was the heavy outfield that curbed the number of boundaries. After 30 overs the scoreboard read 108 / 4.

Cook (37) the opener fared the best for the Cobras Cubs with Crawson (34) a close second. The other batsmen failed to make an impression on the day and the entire team was bundled out for 164. Dugmore and Koopman were best in the bowling department for their team and respectively notched up match analysis of 2 / 20 and 2 / 26.

Warriors started in conservative fashion and after 5 overs were 11 without loss. Fortune was among wickets again and he was joined by Linde. The Warriors picked up their run rate and moved along to 135 / 2. Nel with his well played 54 was the top scorer in the match and assisted his side to hand The Cape Cobras Cubs their first defeat in this tournament. Price with 52 not out was the other top run scorer for The Warriors.

Best bowlers for the Cobras were Linde with 1 / 26 and the never say die Fortune who by his own standards had a rather subdued time in the middle with 1 /39. The cumulative effect of this was that the Warriors ended on 168 / 2 and did so almost on the proverbial trot with Warriors taking top honors in this was of attrition.

Cricket Chronicles read victory to The Warriors Cubs by 8 wickets.
